U7 - U8 Guidelines
Goal Size: 6-ft high by 18-ft wide anchored to the ground
Ball Size: Size 3
# of players: 6 playing on the field per team with a maximum of 12 on the roster
Goalkeepers: Yes. They must have different color shirt, jersey, or “penny” than playing teams.
Goal Area: Two lines start 6-yds past each goal post and extending 6-yds into the field of play joined by a line parallel to the goal line.
Penalty Area: Two lines start 12-yds past each goal post and extending 12-yds into the field of play joined by a line parallel to the goal line.
Penalty Spot: 9 inch spot 10-yds from center of goal. “D” arc 8-yds from penalty spot
Substitutions: Only at each quarter or halftime. Injuries may be substituted anytime.
Playing time: Each player SHALL play a minimum of 50% of the game unless coach has prior approval from Commissioner.
Equipment: Shinguards with ankle protection is required. Shinguards must be worn under socks. No jewelry at all is permitted. Player’s may use tennis shoes or soccer cleats (No football or baseball cleats).
Referee: Grade 9 licensed referee or higher will enforce the rules. All fouls be explained briefly. No linesmen used.
Game Length: Four equal quarters of 10 minutes with a 5-minute halftime break. Quarters will be separated by a 2-minute break.
Start/Restart: Conform to FIFA.
Throw-In: Conform to FIFA with the exception that an improper throw-in can be retaken once.
Offside: None
Fouls: Conform to FIFA except opponents must be at least 8-yds away.
Goal Kick: Conform to FIFA.
Corner Kick: Conform to FIFA with the exception that defending players must be at least 8-yds away from ball until it is in play.
Penalty Kick: Conform to FIFA.
