BSO Tournament Rules

BSO Annual Tournament Rules

  •   Single Elimination.  If you lose, you are eliminated.  The only exception is a loss in the semi-final games.  You will play 1 game to decide 3rd & 4th place.

  •  The top two teams move on to District play. Coaches must commit to District play within 3 days of the conclusion of the BSO Tournament.  If you fail to commit, or decline to play at District, then BSO has the right to send the 3rd place team.

  •   Tournament Committee and/or BSO board has final discretion of related matters.

  •   Only coaches and players are allowed on the bench sidelines.

  •   Coaches must stay on their half of the field that their bench is on.

  • Each player must play a minimum of two quarters.  No exceptions.  If your team is found to be in violation of this rule, any tournament wins as a result of this infraction will become forfeits.

  •  There will not be any ties.  If there is a tie at the end of regulation, the first tie breaker is 2 five minute quarters. There is no Golden Goal.  If a team scores, play will continue until the end of the  2 OT periods.  If the score is still tied at the end of the overtime periods, then the game will be decided by penalty kick shootout.  Each team will send 5 players out for the penalty kicks.  These five players must be on the field when the OT period ends.  If the score is still tied after each team has had their 5 penalty kicks, then penalty kicks will continue on a 1 for 1 basis for each team until there is no longer a tie.  The additional players for the penalty kicks must begin with a 6th player that was on the field during the OT period, and so on, before you begin with players from the bench.

  •   Yellow Cards will carry throughout the tournament and are cumulative.  If a player receives a 2nd yellow card, it will be converted into a red card and the player will be ejected from the game and will have to sit out the next game as well.

  •   If a player receives a red card, they will be removed from the game and the team will have to continue the game down a player.  The player will also be out for the next game, if the team moves on.  The team will be allowed to play at full strength for the next game.
